Happy 2nd Momaversary To Me

Yes, you read that right. It’s the second anniversary of me being a mom! Yesterday Donovan turned two and only God knows how these last two years have been both a challenge and a reward. He started in a NICU incubator, graduated to a bassinet, moved along to a crib and now a toddler bed. Although that may not seem like much to you, the transitions and growth are huge.

So this year I took a different approach and decided to celebrate myself as a mom. I scheduled a massage & facial, took the day off and took Donovan to daycare. When I told a few people of my plans a few people turned their noses up at me. One wondering why I thought it was appropriate to take the day off and treat myself on my son’s birthday and another just saying I was doing too much. Doing too much would have been asking for another push gift. And if you know me, you know I asked.

Being a mom is a 24/7 role with no pay. So I encourage all parents (even dads) to take time to celebrate all the work you put into being a parent. Take a day off here and there, send them kids to daycare or a family/friend and do something for you. I left the spa yesterday feeling rejuvenated. I didn’t get another push gift but I did get some much needed rest and me time.

Happy Momaversary to me and Happy Birthday Donovan!

XOXO,
Adriane
