Intentional – done with purpose
Lately I’ve noticed how many people just update social media with the highlight reel. They’ve come accustomed to making it seem like everything in life is about vacations, out with friends, good food and spending money. But in reality many of those people (even myself at times are silently suffering). Posting photos of ourselves happy only behind our smiles are pain, suffering and loneliness.
So of course I’m sure a lot of you are like “Uhmm ma’am that’s nothing new, social media isn’t reality.” But it wasn’t until a few months ago that I start seeing social media differently. I was silently suffering but was hiding behind happy photos of good food and fun with friends. Let me just tell you, it was all fake. It wasn’t until I was at my lowest that I realized that I need more from social media, more than just what I was seeing. I started following people who inspired me. I even stopped following certain people who would trigger unhappiness, envy, greed and lust. I followed people who are living life by being transparent and helping others by showing a REAL life. That’s when I decided I had to become intentional about what I posted. I became conscience of the fact that I wanted people to see me differently than just what people usually post on social media. I decided posting positive message daily was a must. It was my mission to encourage one person every single day.
In this new year, I challenge you to revamp your social media not only in what you post but who you follow. Become intentional about what you post and what you expose yourself to.
P.S. Unfollow every account that makes you feel like you need to be someone else.
