This week holds a special significance for me as it leads up to Mother’s Day weekend. This year, Mother’s Day carries a different weight, as I lost my beloved Grandmother six months ago. It marks the first time I won’t be able to call her and express my gratitude for the incredible impact she had on my life. While this Mother’s Day will undoubtedly be difficult, I’m thankful for the years I shared with her and for the wisdom and love she imparted upon me. My heart goes out to my mom, as she faces her first Mother’s Day without her own mother.
My mother has been a beacon of perseverance, love, and empathy in my life. I pray daily for the opportunity to repay her for the countless blessings she has bestowed upon me.
On a personal note, this Mother’s Day marks my fourth celebration with my baby boy, and I am endlessly grateful to God for entrusting me with the privilege of being his mother. My journey to conceive Donovan was riddled with challenges due to my PCOS, involving multiple rounds of IUIs, trigger shots, emotional turmoil, and significant hormonal changes. Even during pregnancy, the threat of complications loomed large, yet through it all, we persevered. Despite Donovan being born prematurely and navigating the complexities of CVID, I am grateful for God’s grace in seeing us through. Being Donovan’s mother has been a transformative experience, shaping me into the best version of myself.
To all the women who have left an indelible mark on my life, I wish you a heartfelt Happy Mother’s Day!
