It’s a No for me Dawg!

A few years ago, I was a yes girl. “Yes friend,” “Sure, I can come over and help you with that,” “Yeah, Chile no problem.” I was saying yes to everything friends and family asked, so afraid to upset others or let them down. I would be up late trying to complete things I needed to do for myself because I spent so much of time trying to assist others or being there for them.

Until one day I got overwhelmed. So overwhelmed that I had a melt down and had to call out from work. Can someone say mental health day? Ya girl needed to gather herself, catch up on somethings, but most importantly I needed that day to sleep in, get some time to myself and strategically find a way to complete all the task. I found myself questioning how this happened. and I realized, I needed to start saying no.

As women we sometimes feel like we have to be superwoman. Take care of family, friends, go to every social event, work out, eat healthy and work a full time job. I know this first hand because this USE to be me. I started to realize I was wearing myself down only trying to be in one thousand places at a time.

I challenge you to say NO to family and friends this season. Take time for yourself and work on your goals and ambitions before trying to please others.

What are some things you need to say no to?

  1. This is so me!!! I’ve recently started saying no as well! I hate it though. I still feel like I’m letting people down when I don’t say yes. It takes sooooo much strength to say no! It’s a definite problem for me!

    1. I’ve struggled with that too. Mostly in my married life trying to be super wife. I had to have a sit down with my husband and be like, I’m running a mile a minute. I can’t work full time, run the house, be your business partner, have a social life, eat healthy, work out and still rest. You gotta help me out here.

    2. But I’m learning to set better expectations with people. That will help me to be better at saying no.
